From Manna to Mousse
A very popular gift!
Our beloved cookbook, From Manna to Mousse, was a labor of love carefully assembled by our congregation's Sisterhood in 1969. It has been passed down from generation to generation and reordered by many who remember the delicious foods made from this collection of recipes. Now in its 7th printing, the cookbook contains all of the original recipes but now sports a sturdy, hard plastic cover to protect it from kitchen mishaps. We are happy to still offer this wonderful cookbook for sale directly through our synagogue office.
We sell copies of From Manna to Mousse for $36.00 which includes shipping & handling within the United States. (Please call for shipping quotes outside of the U.S.) Use the "Buy Now" button below to order yours today!
"Editor's Letter:
"Glorious labor - It both warms and nourishes those that are engaged in it."
This book began as a fund raising project, but rapidly became a fun raising project. The enthusiasm, participation and camaraderie which it engendered became a way of life to all of us. Every other Tuesday was testing day, and we will always look back on those get-togethers with amusement and fond memories. Diets were discarded with abandon, for who could not justify the fact that the chocolate whipped cream mousse just had to be tested along with the twenty-nine other delectable concoctions served that same afternoon!
From Manna to Mousse has been made possible only through the generosity of the many women who were willing to share their favorite recipes with us. Some of the traditional dishes were measured out while a balabusta cooked them. We stayed her hand over the pot so that exact quantities could be recorded. The busy young homemaker contributed her quick and easy favorites, and those who love the exotic shared their gourmet specialties with us. Over 1200 recipes were submitted, but lack of space prevented printing all of them. It was a dilemma to decide which ones to include. Where there were duplicates or marked similarities we usually selected the recipes first received. No recipes were discarded, for there is always the promise of a second edition.
To all the hostesses who so graciously opened their homes for testing sessions, to all who tested, tasted, typed or worked in any other capacity, a sincere thank you. We hope you will use and enjoy this book as much as we have enjoyed compiling it for you. May From Manna to Mousse contribute to happy family dining.
